Audio in timeline does not match timeline in newer version

Hello, I have recently upgraded from audacity 2.4.2 to version 3.4.2. And since I have uninstalled the older Audacity version. All of my projects have OUT OF PLACE audio tracks and do not align from when I originally intended it. Reinstalling back to 2.4.2, I realized everything is in place the way it’s supposed to be when I open my project in 2.4.2. I really don’t know what’s going on with the new version it was working fine until I uninstalled the older version. The old version opens the way the audio in the timeline is supposed to be except when I open THE SAME EXACT project file in version 3.4.2. I am willing to provide anything I can even project files to figure out this mess. Otherwise I would have to crawl back into my hole before the 3.0 versions. Am I the only one experiencing this? Anyone that want’s to help will be much appreciated.

And I could simply “just rearrange it”, but I don’t think it is humanly possible to change all 145 audacity projects to how it’s supposed to be.

Ok, I installed 3.4.2 unto my external drive and all my projects now open up perfectly with the new version. Everything is perfect now. It seems like I need to keep 2.4.2 [32bit] (internally) and keep a copy of (3.4.2) [64bit] on a different drive letter instead of my “C:/” directory, but I must keep both programs or else everything changes my project files. You honestly can’t make this stuff up. I think I will keep this weird setup because it is the only thing that works for me for now. Thank you for wanting to help though, but I advise something might be up with the older 32bit programs and the new 64bit program. (Maybe some sort of conflict?) Just a wild guess.

If you don’t take steps to prevent it, the old & new Audacity will share the same Audacity preferences folder and corruption will ensue.
