Audicity 2.0.6 wont run on my XP machine

Hello
I searched the forum and did not find an answer to this question.

I have a windows XP laptop, Athlon XP2000+ processor, not SSE2 enabled, service pack 3 installed.
Based on website information I should be using Audacity version 2.0.6 for this system.
So I downloaded from the link provided and unzipped the files.
But when I click on the exe file I get an error message about Apllication has failed to start, configuration is incorrect, reinstalling may fix the problem. (not an exact quote, I am not at that machine right now)

So what is wrong ? I did not think there was an installation program, you just unzipped the files and away you go.
Am I missing something ?

Thanks
Robert.

Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. Please see this post: Important information for Windows XP users.

Yes. You need Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package.
For 32-bit Windows: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582
For 64-bit Windows: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2092

I added an installer for 2.0.6 and a note about “Application configuration incorrect” to http://www.audacityteam.org/download/legacy-windows/.
