Audacity's peak meter lags on the Mac OS version

I got my first ever Mac (a 13.6" MacBook Air M3) last week and am currently running Sequoia, the latest version. After installing the latest Mac OS version of Audacity I found that the peak meter seems very frame-limited/laggy, even when set to the maximum of 100 refreshes per second. Downgrading to version 3.0.2 of Audacity (which I prefer because it was one of the last versions with the “classic” interface and codebase; newer versions have undergone significant alterations) also gave the same result. The M3 MacBook Airs are fairly powerful machines and should not be having this problem, and the peak meter is extremely smooth as it should be when running Windows versions of Audacity on Mac OS via Wineskin, so it seems like it’s either a problem with the Mac OS version of Audacity, a bug affecting the latest version of Mac OS (which only came out last week) or some configuration setting.
