Audacity wont record with my X2222usb mixer connected

Please Help.

I am using the latest version of Audacity, but I can’t get it to record the input from my mixer.

I am using a Behringer XENYX X2222USB mixer as an interface to my computer, a Bang and Olufsen ENVY

I have connected the mixer to my computer via the USB type “B” Jack on the Mixer to a free USB port on my computer.

In Audio Setup in Audacity selected Microphone (2- Codeck USB and Speaker (2-Codec which becomes available after the mixer is connected.

In Transport Options I have disabled “Enable sound activated recording” and “Hear other tracks while recording”.

I know that the recording on my 8-track recorder which is connected to my mixer is playing loud and clear through my powered speaker monitor but when I click the microphone symbol and “Create silent monitoring “in Audacity, there is nothing.

Please help if you can, this is driving me nuts.

Cheers

Just to eliminate (or confirm) Audacity as the problem, could you try the same setup with some other software such as Ocenaudio which is also free?

Not a bad place to be stuck, I reckon.

What’s happening? Are you recording silence? A flat line?

Check the recording volume slider which is “hidden” under the recording level meters.

In Transport Options I have disabled “Enable sound activated recording”.

Try turning that off.

Try Listen To This Device to make sure Windows is getting a signal.

Thanks Mark I’ll try that, I don’t know if its significant but I can’t get my mixer to connect to Cakewalk either ??

Has it worked in the past or is this the first time of trying? I would say it is significant that it doesn’t play nice with Cakewalk either. That implies an operating system issue or drivers to me.

Is the analog working out of the mixer?

That implies an operating system issue or drivers to me.

It’s class compliant so it should be plug-and-play with the drivers supplied with your operating system.

I see something about ASIO on the website but sometimes Behringer just uses the generic ASOI4ALL (which I call Half-AISO  ). Audacity doesn’t work with ASIO drivers but Cakewalk should. (Cakewalk has been through some “changes”.)

My SM38 Mic when plugged into my Mixer works fine through my amplified monitor does that mean the analog is working? Sorry I’m a complete technophobe. I have tried NME and wassappi for Audacity Still no luck

Yes. the main outputs should be the same as what comes-out from the USB digitally. So we can rule-out a bad microphone or some mixer setting or anything analog.

OK thanks for that, what next?

I forgot to say that my mixer must be connected in some way because when I play an mp3 on my computer it plays back through my mixer and powered speakers but I have no control over it at the mixer??. Anyway thanks for all youve tried to do for me, I really appreciate it.
