Audacity won't recognize preamp

Hi. Here’s a weird twist: I had to get a new (refurbished) 2020 Macbook Air (OS Monterey 12.4), when my 12 yr. old Macbook Pro finally died. Was able to transfer data to the new laptop, including Audacity 2.4.2. I recorded 4voice mp3s, and sent to my agent. Agent asks for more takes; so after lunch I go to record some more–and Audacity suddenly won’t recognize my Scarlett Solo! So no can use: tried turning off everything/rebooting, etc. all to no avail. Had to record the other spots on my iphone :frowning:

Any thoughts how to get Audacity to recognize the Solo preamp?

Thank you,

John

Go to Apple (menu) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Does the Solo show up there? If not, figure out why.

While you’re in System Preferences, go to Security and Privacy, click the Privacy tab, click the Microphone is the list on the left and make sure Audacity is checked. See https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/no-recording-level/51788/1

Now start Audacity. Can you select the Solo in the Device Toolbar?

By the way, the latest version of Audacity is 3.1.3 and is available here.
