Audacity won't open, code 0x80070005

For some reason Audacity won’t open and I don’t know why.

I try to start it but it just won’t open. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Near the end of the installation it said “IPersistFile::Save failed; code 0x80070005. Access is denied.”

I went searching for this file, but I was unable to find it.

What do I do?

I tried doing those, but when I downloaded the .zip and ran it, it gives me this message.
“The program can’t start because the wxbase28u_vc_custom.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”

But when I went to the folder, the .dll was there. So I deleted it and copied over the one from the installation and it still says the same thing.

Did you extract the files from the zip using 7-Zip or Windows unzip (right-click over the file in Explorer)?

Are you the administrator on that computer? What version of Windows is it?

I uses WinRAR to extract the files and I am the administrator. I am currently using Windows 7.

Is that a 32 bit version of Windows or a 64 bit version?

This may be a different issue to code 0x80070005. When you have checked if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows as Steve suggests, try downloading and install the appropriate
32-bit or 64-bit Microsoft “Redistributable Package” as follows:

Then reboot the computer. Turn it completely off for at least a minute before restarting it.
