I’m using Audacity 2.4.2 from PPA in a Linux/Debian/Ubuntu 21.04 64 bit system and trying to input to Audacity from an Easycap USC cassette tape converter.
I have been running in circles with this for days.
Audacity does recognize the USB device and I have it selected.
Recording does not work. I keep getting this error : Unable to open Portmixer
Really frustrated at this point.
Please provide any assistance that you can.

Do you still have the receipt?
Those devices are notoriously unreliable. You will find dozens of reports of the same problem with those devices.
