audacity v3.0.2 freezes when trying to export to MP3

I use windows 10 64 bit

Problem: After installing Audacity v3.0.2 today, I edited an mp3 file and wanted to export it as mp3 and renaming it by doing: File|Export as MP3, Audacity freezes and I cannot continue.

I have Lame for Windows for MP3

Prior to installing v3.0.2, I had no problem with v2.4.2

Can someone tell me how to fix this problem so i can export it as mp3 and rename the file?

In the meantime, I have uninstalled v3.0.2 and re-installed v2.4.2 and this is working properly.

It’s possible that something may have got messed up during the update.

Try:

  1. Uninstall all versions of Audacity,
  2. Download a fresh copy of the Audacity installer from here: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html (use the text link below the advert)
  3. Run the installer and look for the option “Reset Preferences”.
  4. Enable the option “Reset Preferences” and complete the installation.
  5. On first run, confirm that you want to reset Preferences.
