Audacity Updating Automatically To Latest Version

I use Audacity version 3.0.5, but since the latest update has been released, version 3.7.1, now every couple of days when I come to use Audacity, it’s automatically updated to the new version without my consent.

I’ve seen from various answers on the forum relating to similar topics saying that Audacity does not have an auto update function, but from my experience ‘it does’. I’ve uninstalled the latest version and done a fresh install of 3.0.5, but this still keeps happening and there doesn’t seem to be anyway to resolve it.

I’m highly frustrated, especially when it keeps saying all the recent projects I’ve been working on have not been saved correctly, when in fact they have and I just want to be able to use the version of Audacity I’m happy with.

I wish someone could help or give me a work around to stop this from happening.

Out of curiosity, do you also have the Muse Hub service installed on the computer?

I wonder what Windows version allows an unvoluntary installation of any software or update without interaction or other utilities…

To me it seems that some Windows users have installed a utility (see some examples here) to keep their software “updated” - but then they forget about it, and complain that this utility also updated Audacity.

Hi, I don’t have the Muse Hub service installed. Would it make a difference if I did?

Hi, I don’t use any utilities to update my programs, though I did do some research to see if Windows 10 had any settings which automatically updates non-windows programs, such as Audacity and disable it, but I couldn’t find anything. I’ve been using Audacity for years and I’ve only experienced this issue with it updating to the new version automatically, since 3.7.1 was released.
