Hi everyone! Brand new here, not particularly tech savvy.
For several years, I have been able to record voice tracks for an online music show. They always defaulted to mp3.
Something has changed, and now the default is aup, and I can no longer export as mp3.
When clicking Export, I am led to another window that gives me a choice of either exporting to the Audacity cloud, or my computer.
How do I solve this problem, as I am dead in the water right now.
Thanks
Make sure you are clicking File → Export Audio which should bring-up a dialog window that gives you export options.
File → Save will save an AUP project.
Already tried that. Didn’t work. Export Audio brings up a window asking whether I want to save to Audio.com or my computer. It used to allow me to use the mp3 option, but not any more. Very frustrating. Worked fine one day, then not the next.
Could it be an unwanted Microsoft update?
Solved the problem by installing a much older version of Audacity. 2.2.1. Rather clunky, but sweet, and it solved the problem!
Thank you so much for offering our advice.
Much appreciated!
Do bear in mind that you won’t be able to open Audacity project files created on the later version if you reverted to 2.2.1 because the format changed.
There is a probable solution-
In the newer version, go to Edit → Preferences → Modules and make sure mod-mp3 (and everything else) is enabled.
…For some reason some people are seeing some of the options disabled.
If you don’t want to see the audio.com option, go to Edit → Preferences → Cloud.
But you didn’t really see AUP3 as an export option, right? Different symptoms, different solution…
