Audacity slow on mac

hi i recently got a new mac and when im using audacity its like getting frozen all the time and its taking a lot of time to upload previous projects im using the 2.4.2 version on my old mac its working well we tried even to upgrade to the newest version or trying old version still same problem that the app is getting stuck all the time we tried to low the resolution to low and reinstall it and even checked the mac to see mybe the memory is full but no the mac has at list 2 tera of memory and dont run any heavy programs

2.4.2 still available … Old Audacity versions download
[ I don’t know if it will work on a new Mac though ]

I tried with the newest version but still slow

Others have also reported that Audacity 3 is laggy/slow …

do you think i should try download other versions like the new 3.7.1 or blew it ?

I have 3.7.0 & 2.3.2 on the same Windows machine. 2.3.2 is faster and more reliable.
The downside is 2.3.2 lacks VST3 plugin compatibility.

Do you think on Mac it’s gonna work ?

Yes, Audacity works on a Mac.

For a Mac running macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or higher, a 64bit version of Audacity is required, earlier macOS-versions can also use a 32bit-version. I do not know, since what version Audacity is 64bit. But I guess this was not your question.

I think that version 2.4.x of Audacity is already 64bit and shouold work without a problem on recent Macs.

I really don’t understand clearly what your question is/was.

Are you running only on the Mac internal drive? Audacity doesn’t get along well with external, network, or cloud drives. Do the production on the internal drive and when you’re finished, move the work to wherever you want. Move work back to the computer before editing.

Don’t let Audacity see you messing with the remote drives.

Like I switched Mac recently and on the new Mac the app was like slower when it comes to upload even smaller files on the 2.4.2 version but on the old one it’s fast but I tried like to go one version after 2.4.2 to see if it’s helps but no and maybe older one but still the same result

The app running on the local drive and not on external drives or cloud
