Audacity silencing/killing ESI MAYA44 ex PCI sound card when launched

Can anyone assist. Up until a few releases ago I’ve always found no problem with audacity. But something strange has been happening for a while now.

I am using Win 10 Pro with a ESI MAY44 ex PCI sound card. Normally everything works fine with all other software I am using. But the second I launch audacity it kills the audio output and I can only regain audio by rebooting (not logging out but actually rebooting).

I have loads of music software which works fine with my setup. It’s only when I launch Audacity (even on its own with nothing else running) that the audio dies. It really is exclusively a problem that audacity is creating. Win 10 is updated reguarly and that makes no difference. Trying the different audio configurations on audacity does nothing to bring sound back, and the ESI monitor shows no audio going to the selected MAYA44.

Can anyone help with resolving this problem as I’d hate to dump audacity

Many thanks in advance.

Been 6days and no reply - guess I’ll have to abandon using audacity then and switch to some other software. Pity.
