Audacity screen keeps jumping to the top when editing and moving around multiple tracks on the timeline. I have turned off all the autoscroll settings but still, every time I’ve moved a track along the timeline it jumps to the top.
I am editing a radio feature with a mix of spoken clips and music, which I then have to move about to make a feature exactly 60 minutes long. And the editing is driving me spare. Every time I have moved a track, it jumps to the top and I have to scroll back to the middle or bottom to move the next track to where it needs to be in the feature, and again it jumps to the top.
This is so annoying that I am seriously considering ditching Audacity and find some other similar tool. However, in all other respects it is perfect for my purposes.
I have been through everything I could find on the web on the topic, but no luck.
Please help!
And thank you so much!
Martin
Oh, and I should say I’m using Win 11 and Audacity 3.7.7
same here… been happening for awhile. I’ve just gotten used to it ![]()
EDIT: Actually, I think it’s this: disable Auto-fit track height in Edit/Preferences > Tracks:
Enabling it caused the problems you described to appear.
3.7.7 on Win 10 here. I’m not sure I understand whether clips or tracks are being moved and what method is used to move multiple at the same time and whether they are moved up or down, or to the top/bottom. I tried all the things I could think of and nothing caused the scrollbar to move.
At this point I would suggest resetting your settings like in:
If you’re willing to share your audacity.cfg (here or via direct message), I could try to reproduce it on my machine and try to figure out the reason. See Resetting Audacity | Audacity Support
