I would like to see an ‘import’ option for the Spectrum Plot. At the moment, we can export the plot to a number of data points (selection of a desired frequency range would be helpful) to a text file. It would be most convenient to be able to import that same text file to the equaizer in order to approximate the waveform of the first file onto the second (for consistency between multiple sessions).
You’d need to know the difference between the two files.
You can look for a “matching EQ” plug-in. Izotope Rx has one but it’s not free. (I don’t own it, I just happen to be aware of it.)
Such an Audacity plugin did exist: “SpectrumToEQcurve”, but it won’t work in Audacity3.
I know of one free EQ matching plugin … https://geraintluff.github.io/jsfx/#Spectrum%20Matcher
I can get Geraint Luff’s spectrum-matcher to work in Audcaity2, (green is target EQ) …
In Audacity3, (like some other VSTs), it works in realtime, but when applied it does nothing,
(applies default settings, which in this case is null).
