Audacity on MacBook Pro 12.7.6 Monterey

Hi,
When I open Audacity 3.7, the attached screen appears. I don’t understand why.

What were you expecting?

What you see there is Audacity 3.7 in the starting configuration. From here you can import tracks (via the menu at the top of the screen) or record tracks by pressing the red button.

Thanks, friend

I was used to Audacity on Windows where I have all the options at a glance on the start screen. I guess I’ll get used to it.

I notice that I can’t record ‘what’s playing’ on my Mac, only what the microphone receives.

Regards, Ángel

Hi, Steve

I cannot record a song or speech I am playing.

You can configure your start screen by adding / removing / re-arranging items, at your desire. Probably, on your previous Windows machine, you (or someone else for you) did this in the very beginning.

You can - but you need to install additional software. I recommend “BlackHole” from existential.audio Earlier there also was “Soundflower” from Rogue Amoeba, but I think this only works until macOS Catalina, while BlackHole is for all newer OS versions.

Thank you. I have indeed installed Blackhole and set up Audacity on my Mac. It works perfectly. Thanks again

Regards, Angel
