I’m wanting to play albums from my audio technica turntable and transfer vinyl to my iphone. I’ve done this many times.
As of late December 2022, the audacity icon has a slash through it and a message: “Audacity needs to be updated. The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developed for more information”.
I’m running macOS Big Sur 11.7.2 and Audacity version 3.2.2.0
The audacity player screen looks different and than it did in November 2022. I get a screeching sound (feedback? not sure) when I try to listen to an LP.
I’ve looked through the manual and checked input and output many times but to no avail.
I’m not sure what I’m missing. Please help. I love this software and don’t want to look elsewhere.
Thanks.
If you want to try a version of Audacity that was like your old version, you could try Audacity 2.4.2. It’s available from here: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity-old.html (scroll way down the list).
Before installing 2.4.2 I would recommend removing any other versions of Audacity from your computer, and remove Audacity’s configuration files.
The configuration files are in:
~/Library/Application Support/audacity/
where “~/” means your home folder. Delete, move or rename the entire “audacity” folder.
