Audacity Not Recording Properly

I have a MacBook pro running El Capitan 10.11.3 and the latest version of audacity. When I first dowloaded audacity and connected my mixing board, a yamaha MG12XU, to my computer everything was working perfectly and the sound quality was fantastic. Fast forward to this week and every time that I try to record anything, the program slows down and the resulting recording sounds like something out of a terrible edm concert when played back. In addition, today when I connected and started to record I got rapidly increasing white noise feedback that gets to peak volume and does not stop if I try to record. I have deleted and reinstalled audacity and that has not worked. I connected the board to the other computer in my studio, and HP Envy laptop and with all the cable in the same positions, the sound would record perfectly and I would have no issues. Any help is appreciated.

You may want to be sure you have Audacity 2.1.2 supplied by us http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac. A lot of people who say they have the latest version do not, because they downloaded somewhere else. See the pink panel at the top of the page.

If you are connecting the Yamaha MG12XU by USB cable, try reconnecting the cable tightly then restarting the computer. You should also check that the Yamaha sample rates for input and output as seen in /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup are the same as the project rate bottom left of Audacity.

I tried restarting and made sure I had the latest version, including re-downloading it and made sure that my sample rates were even between the board and Audacity and nothing seemed to fix the problem. I have uploaded an mp3 file of what it sounds like when I press record so that anyone can help me further. This is the link to the mp3 http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?mode=view&id=15866

Do you have mixer channels 11 and 12 turned up? That’s how the USB plays to the mixer. If you record with that in the output mix, that’s a feedback path. ______…eeeeeeEEEEEEEE

I tried both on and off and with the fader up and down, still nothing changed and now its not even letting me record. Honestly at this point I think I am just going to use my other computer or buy better software.
