audacity not picking up second condenser mic

Hey Guys, I am trying to run a 2 person Podcast, using Audacity to record and edit. I have Windows 10 on a brand new Dell xps 15, tons of fire power (not the problem) I have 2 Newer NW-8000 condenser microphones running XLR cables into a presonus USB 96 audio mixing interface with 2 XLR inputs for 2 mics. ( I replaced the garbage XLR to 3.5mm plugs that come with the mics. from there it is plugged into the USB port on my computer. I also have headphones plugged into the the mixer.

THE ISSUE: no matter how much I mess with the settings in the program and my computer I can not get Audacity to recognize the second mic.

I can hear both mics laying back through my headphones but it will not register when I split the audio to stereo on my recording.

PLEASE HELP

Newer NW-8000 condenser microphones

Are those the Professional Broadcasting Studio Recording Condenser Microphones?

I don’t think the Presonus is the kind of mixer you think it is.

I expect if you record in stereo and make sure the whole digital pathway is stereo (two channel), that you will have you on the left and the guest on the right. It’s a snap to correct each one as needed and mix down to a mono show.

Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo down to Mono.

Did that work? Did the second mic come back?

Sometimes Windows will have settings that can affect this as well. The whole digital pathway has to be stereo.

I’ve seen bad instructions for this microphone series. It’s a side-address microphone. Speak into the company name, not the round end.

It’s a cousin to this microphone type.
