Hi
I have a Dell XPS13-9380 running windows 10 pro 20H2.
I have installed audacity 3.0.4 (no previous versions).
When I try to open audacity, I get the audacity logo and then audacity just hangs.
I have tried deleting the3 files in the appdata/local/roaming/audacity file and restarting.
I have to use task manager to stop audacity running as I am unable to see anything.
Thank you for any help you can offer
Did you get Audacity from here: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/
Have you tried rebooting your computer?
Using task manager is an excellent start to solving a problem like this.
While Audacity is hanging check a few things in TASK MANAGER.
- Have look to see if there is any rogue app hogging cpu cycles.
- In the search bar, type CONTROL PANEL (Look in the top right corner for VIEW BY - choose ICONS (large or small)
- Click ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS
- Click EVENT VIEWER
- Open WINDOWS LOGS
- Click APPLICATION
Scroll down the middle Payne and see if there is anything immediately apparent.
If nothing turns-up, then a clean uninstall / install usually works.
After uninstalling, manually delete any residual folders left over.
After doing the above, re-boot and download a fresh copy - ONLY FROM THE AUDACITY WEBSITE.
Yes i did, thank you
Thank you - after about 3 minutes audacity suddenly opened. I could not see anything untoward in the area you had mentioned.
Thanj you again for your suport, I really appreciate it.
My issue seemed to be with rode nt usb mini which caused multiple crashes. The error reports have been forwarded to audacity
