Audacity not opening file despite having Data

Hi
I have an audio file (voice which I spent weeks editing) which will not open since I moved the file yesterday even though I have the data.

I moved the file from one location on my laptop into a speiclly made folder for all my audio files and took care to move the data folder as well - I relabeled the file and the data folder to avoid confusion. However, the file will not open even though the data folder is in the location and there should be no reason why it can’t recognize it.

I now have 2 data folders with similar but non-identical names (although one has a lot more files than the other) which reportedly were crated at the same time yesterday but I’ve no idea why there are two of them -
either way it shouldnt be an issue for the audacity file to open.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to feed the raw data into Audacity? Surely there must be some way other than starting again from scratch when I do definitely still have all the files. Please help.

I relabeled the file and the data folder

Ding!

You can’t change the file or folder names outside of Audacity. You can change them back at any time by opening up the AUP file in a text editor (Don’t save anything) and reading the original name.

That internal label, the AUP file and the _DATA folder have to match.

If you do get the show back, immediately Export it as a WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit perfect quality backup file. If it’s multi-track (3 or more), you can’t do that, but File > Save As: a fresh Project with a different name.

You should also have WAV backups of all the files you used in the show and saved on separate drives or storage. There should be no having the show crash and needing to go out and shoot everything again.
