Audacity Not Launching After Title Card

Audacity version: 2.4.1, from official repository

Earlier I tried to open some audio files using audacity, but after the audacity logo flashed on screen, the program did not open. I ran it in terminal to attempt to see what the issue was, and i got the following error:

I attempted to resolve this by reinstalling all of the dependencies, but this did not work. I attempted to install other versions of audacity, and that also did not work. I attempted to compile from source, and that did not work either.

I rather would appreciate if someone knew the issue or how to resolve it.

Have you tried rebooting (or logging out and back in again)?

It appears that Audacity can’t connect fully to the sound system, which could be due to another app getting in the way (I’ve seen similar problems when speech dispatcher is running due to Firefox launching speech dispatcher).

I have indeed tried rebooting my system. This issue has persisted for about two days now. I have not had this issue at any point in the past.

I don’t know if it will make any difference, but it will be informative to know if the AppImage version of Audacity 3.1.3 will run. You can get it from here: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

The AppImage version did in fact work.
Although the present version is not exactly my favourite, it will work for the time being. My thanks.
