I have done everything the setup says & even though its recognizing it in the tool bar at the top its just not picking up the mic. Please help if you have an answer. what am i missing ?
What operating system?
What version of Audacity?
Did you allow access to “Microphone” for Audacity (System settings in macOS, and similar in Windows)?
Try Listen To This Device to make sure Windows is getting a signal.
Or, I believe you can record to the Podtrak and then transfer the files to the computer to editing. There are advantages to that. (Computers are the least reliable things we own and there are lots of settings to mess-with and mess-up.
If Audacity isn’t picking up your mic signal, first check that the correct recording device is selected in Edit → Preferences → Devices. Also make sure your mic isn’t muted in your system sound settings and that input levels are not set too low. On Linux, confirm permissions and try restarting your audio service if needed.
To quickly verify if your mic is working at all, you can use a simple online mic test and use troubleshooting guides before invetigate further — it helps you see if the issue is with Audacity or your system.
