Hello, I’m Sandi Hidayat, and I’d like to propose a new visual identity for Audacity. After using Audacity for several years I feel that a more vibrant, relevant, and competitive identity is needed. I’ve included the logo design here, for further explanation of the idea and description, please see the following link. Hopefully, it will resonate with you.
Audacity is a tool and I care about the logo just about as much as I care about the logo on my hammer or drill.
…But if/when Audacity updates the logo, at least they don’t have to worry about updating the signs on their buildings, delivery trucks, stationary, business cards, product packaging, etc.
Thanks for the feedback, but I consider the current Audacity logo which uses a lot of gradient colors and too much detail is no longer relevant. The current logo should be clearly visible in both small and large sizes, and a simple logo will be more recognizable. For generics, if you search for similar shapes, there will be many, I can’t 100% make one that doesn’t exist on the internet. I made it to fit the identity of Audacity and brought it to a more distinctive shape that represents the core of the software.
I really like this i would LOVE for this to be adopted. I think it would give Audacity much more credibility with new users who see the UI and assume the software is outdated.
yeah that’s true, my considering not just about the logo also the whole identity included. and i think the current identity is outdated, and in need of a refreshment. i’m happy to help them to make new changes
Who is responsible for a decision like this? is there a person or a specific committee?
Correct me if i’m wrong here, but it feels like there is a significant amount of reluctance around any cosmetic/design changes, despite many designers contributing options over recent years that are objectively better than the current official design.
Where is the blockage? or at least a clear explanation of the delay?
