I’ve just downloaded Audacity for the first time on my Mac 10.15.2. It doesn’t record my voice or streaming audio. Turns out Audacity is not on the Mac Security & Privacy list for use of the Microphone.
(This screenshot shows Audacity’s settings on the left and Mac’s Microphone assignments on the right.)
I rebooted the computer and tried dragging the Audacity icon to this list. Still nothing. Any idea how I can get it to appear?
Audacity is not natively supported under MacOS Catalina. You can force it to work by launching Audacity in a special command-line service (instead of clicking pictures).
Desktop > Go > Applications > Utilities > Terminal
That will give you a blank window to type or paste things in.
No mic access
Catalina 10.15.2
Mac Mini
I have granted access to the microphone.
USB audio device (microphone)
It works with voice recorder.
I’ve tried 3 other USB mic devices.
I’ve exited all other application that may be using the usb mic.
I’ve rebooted.
I’ve removed with Clean My Mac and installed again following the workaround.
open /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity
I’ve exited all other application that may be using the usb mic.
