Audacity macros are not working properly (is it a bug?)
I wanted to use a macro by doing the following, but it doesn’t work properly. Is this a bug?
-
Create a new macro name with “Normalize to Amplify”.
-
Register “Select All” → “Normalize” → “Amplify” → “End” as the macro content.
-
Register the created macro to the F5 key on your keyboard.
-
Restart Audacity and drop the audio file you want to edit.
-
Press the F5 key. → At first glance, it appears to be working correctly.
-
The last macro operation is “Amplify”, so if you want to amplify it a little more, press Ctrl+R, but it will not be amplified.
Isn’t this behavior (6) a bug in the program?
By the way, if you manually select “Select All” → “Normalize” → “Amplify” from the state where it is not “amplified” with Ctrl+R, you will be able to “amplify” (multiple times) with Ctrl+R.
After that, you can also change the audio file you want to edit (to a different file) and press the F5 key to “amplify” it using Ctrl+R. In other words, manual intervention is only required the first time after starting Audacity.
Isn’t this because macro operation commands are not recognized (or registered) as manually operated commands? If so, I think this is an obvious bug.
Please let me know if there is a workaround. If there is no workaround, I would like to ask you to modify the program.
Thank you very much for your support.
