Audacity-mac os-2.3.3.dmg Installer [SOLVED]

Hi there, So first off, this is the First Time I am installing Audacity onto my mac. Software system I am running is (macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6) my mac is a late 2011 13 inch, processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory 4GB 1333 MHZ DDR3.

The problem occurs when I am in the process of downloading the dmg file from https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html after I downloaded the latest version offered which is 2.3.3. I then go to the download folder and double click on the dmg file and in the corner of the download it says “opening” for 1 second and then it stops and doesn’t try and open the file up… I have been trying to troubleshoot this issue all night going on Youtube to try and figure this issue out… Unfortunately no luck

I even tried to download the previous version that was part of the 2.3.1 and I experienced the same problem…

I have attached a video for your reference below

→ As you can see in the video the “verify” process looks frozen… I have never experienced this issue with any installations of my applications before.

I would love some insight on how to resolve this issue. Thank you!

  1. Open the folder containing the Audacity 2.3.3 DMG, so that you can see the DMG file.
  2. Then drag the DMG file onto this web page: https://md5file.com/calculator
  3. Look for the “SHA-256” number, and check that it matches exactly with:
43db4d502086257ca377326f9621a343149faac6d3334424b20a3b5caceadda8

Yes, they match perfectly.

This is the SHA-256
43db4d502086257ca377326f9621a343149faac6d3334424b20a3b5caceadda8

I am still having the same issue tho… Is there another way to troubleshoot it?

That’s good. That shows that the file is complete and correct.

Your video shows that your Mac is getting stuck on the verification. It is possible to bypass the verification, and in this specific case it would be safe to do so because we have manually verified the DMG via it’s SHA-256. It is generally a bad idea to bypass security features unnecessarily, so best that we try to get the verification to work properly.

Try opening the DMG from a Finder window rather than from the web browser.
What happens?

Woooohooo! That worked! Thank you! So much!

Excellent
I’ll close this topic as ‘solved’.
