When playing a sound file with air pod 2 as playback device, the sound becomes distorted and after a few seconds turns off completely.
At that point my other sound player - my music app - produces no sound in the air pods.
If I switch the system sound device from air pods to say, MacBook speakers, the system automatically switches back to air pods, and music app plays sound in air pods again with no distortion, and then audacity plays sound in air pods again, but which quickly becomes distorted and then silent.
Advice?
Bluetooth has different modes when merely playing through a connected device versus playing and recording at the same time. For the latter, only rather low sample rates o 16000 or 8000 are supported. You may need to reduce the sample rate in Audacity via Audio setup → audio settings → project sample rate.
I am not recording. I am only playing an MP3 audio file.
I lowered the sample rates to 8000. The problem playing to air pods persisted.
I played to a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
There was no problem.
I raised the sample rates back to 41000.
Still no problem playing to Bluetooth headphones.
Still a problem playing to Air Pods.
I just installed OS 15.2 on my Mac.
Problem gone!!
Thank you.
