Audacity keeps crashing/hanging when I try to record w/mixer

Hi there. I’ve long used Audacity to rip vinyl from a USB turntable and love it for that purpose.

Recently, I purchased a 12-channel Soundcraft mixer for my Roland 808 and Re-201 Space Echo. I decided to give it a go and try recording with Audacity.

Everything worked great for my first attempt. However, I have never been able to get it to work since. I select the mixer from the drop-down box and get set to record and I get the spinning rainbow wheel and everything freezes up.

Is there something I am doing wrong or a setting I must change or a cache that should be emptied for this to work again?

Please help me, folks. I have some great gear and want to record again but am being thwarted by phantoms. Very tantalizing as it did work once.

Running El Capitan version 10.11.2 on an IMAC.

Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer a novice user. I will respond quickly to any questions any friendly samaritans might have for me. THANKS.

I feel you should update El Captian to 10.11.6. There was a USB problem with previous releases and updating should fix this.

Also, you did not tell us your Audacity version (see the pink panel at the top of the page). Most recent versions of Audacity on Mac have a few bugs for various reasons, but for purposes of recording you are probably best off using the latest 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac.
