Audacity keeps crashing after Force Quit and then re-opening

Hello,

I’ve had a complete nightmare editing an audiobook recording on Audacity. In the editing process it froze and was not responding. I then force quitted and every time I reopen the application it shows me something about a debug report: "/var/folders/xn/0zk6knk10w79fzsmddgdl6x80000gn/T/Audacity_dbgrpt-1967-20251017T152751.zip”

I have attached a screenshot of it. I am not tech savvy at all but have managed to discover where the sessiondata .au files are but am now really concerned that the only way I can save these files is by doing it manually - which is virtually impossible as it has probably a couple of hours of recording on it. ( I VERY foolishly did not save each individual file as I went along as I had to go back and edit them)

I do have the sessionsdata .au files but they are both really big at 1.6GB and 3.19GB so don’t quite know how to send if helpful

Is there any way these files can be recovered so i can edit and save them? There is about a 1/3 of an audiobook here on the line :face_with_spiral_eyes:

What version of Audacity are you using?

There is a recovery tool for version 3 projects, but it only runs on Windows.

If this is a version 2 project (which seems likely since you have .au files), I’m not aware of any recovery process.

Thank you very much for your response. I actually unfortunately had to re-record it in the end as I wasn’t quite sure what to do.

Cheers!
