Audacity freezing some seconds

Hey there, I have an issue that’s been happening recently.

I have been recording digitally some music to various cassettes and I when I played them in my walkman I noticed that the first song has frozen bits of mostly a second, always the first song.

I went to audacity and played the track with the speakers and noticed it freezes while the song is being played (sometimes 1sec, sometimes more then 5sec), I closed the app and reopened it and it freezes no more, but after having it opened quite a bit it freezes again.

If someone knows how to fix this or something else please let me know.

I can’t think of a solution - or even a cause - for your issue but I can suggest a workaround. If the most important end result is to have a good cassette to listen to, export the music as a WAV or MP3. Open that in a different program and play it from there when you are doing the recording. You can always delete that once you have a good tape if you plan to keep the Audacity project file.
