Audacity freezes completely

Hello ,

I am using Audacity to work on some podcast, and I am seeing
audacity freezing multiple times in the span of every 5- 10 minutes.
Audacity is straight up not responding to any input on the keyboard / mouse at all.
This is happening on audacity 3.2.4 x64 windows version.
No plugins are used, just a straight up installation.

Usage to cut and remove sentences from 2 different tracks,
project size is around 1,5 GB of a one hour recording.

Is it that the program cannot handle the shere size of the project?
Or is the length to long to work on?

What I tried;
removing the cfg files from the app/roaming/audacity to reset the configurations.
This does not seem to help.

Any help is appreciated,
Also just wondering what is the most stable version of this program? Since its weirdly just freezing.

Are there reports I could upload anywhere?

This happens mostly when using delete button because i’m mostly deleting stuff.

  • Installed FFMPEG gonna monitor and see if this fixes it, or crashes again.

These log messages are informational messages that everyone gets and they occur when you first start Audacity. They are unrelated to the hanging.

FFMPEG is an optional utility used to convert between different kinds of audio file formats. I don’t think you need this because you are likely only using .WAV and .MP3 files. Installing FFMPEG will not hurt anything.

When you delete audio within a project file, Audacity still retains the original data in case you need to Undo your work. To delete the undo information, you need to close the project and re-open it.

Another possible performance issue happens when you copy selected data from another project (for example, last week’s podcast). When you do this, all of the original track information is copied, not just the part you selected. To delete this unneeded information, you can select a track and do a Mix and Render on it.
