I don’t know what the developers are up to, but you should probably look for an existing application while you wait and hope… 
Somebody may have an answer… I know they are working on version 4.0 but I haven’t heard about any support for Android or iOS.
GoldWave is a non-free “competitor” to Audacity and the Infinity Version runs in a browser so it will work with Android. (I’ve only used the regular Windows version).
