Why does Audacity not recognise .WAV, but does recognise .wav?
It may seem naff, but it seems like a no-brainer for it to recognise both. My Zoom H1E saves as .WAV, and it took me a while to work out that Audacity didn’t understand capital letters.

Did you make sure that your problem is caused by Audacity - or by your (unknown) operating system, or by the format of your drive?

I am using Linux Mint. I can double-click on a .WAV file, and it will play in Audacious with no issues. But when I try to open it in Audacity 3.7.7 or 4, with all supported files, it does not see it.
Ironically, when I go to save the file, Audacity says WAV (Microsoft).
As a proof of concept, could you change a .wav to .WAV and see if you see the same issue?
