Please try to be precise with your descriptions. It is confusing and causes delays when you post apparently conflicting statements.
In one post, you confirmed that the file path was: C:\Users<your-user-name>\Documents<project-name.aup>
but in another post you wrote: “i open it via documents > podcast episodes > podcast1.aup”
so does that mean that contrary to the first statement, the file path is actually: C:\Users<your-user-name>\Documents\podcast episodes\podcast1.aup
Yeah. Check your responses carefully when you post on the forum. We can’t see what you’re doing and a seemingly simple error in your post can really mess us up.
Which virus protection program do you have? Disconnect or disable your internet connection. Shut down or disable your virus protection and try exporting again.
The flip side of that can be much more serious. Do you have a virus program? If not, do you sometimes show a flashing Drive, Hard Drive, or HD light even when you’re not doing anything?
il copy the exact file path from the folder so that there are no confusions
C:\Users\deste\Documents\treehouse\podcast1.aup
i have tried to shut down the pc and export the project again but it doesn’t work. i have tried to export it with no internet connection but that doesn’t work.
my back up plan is that il have to install another programme to record audio like audacity and just re-do another podcast episode.
the only antivirus software i have is Avast.
yes, i have the folder
C:\Users\deste\Documents\treehouse\podcast1_data
i was able to move another file into the folder
C:\Users\deste\Documents\treehouse\podcast1_data
i also recorded myself talking just now onto audacity and exported that audio onto the folder: C:\Users\deste\Documents\treehouse\podcast1_data
and everything worked fine its just my project i cant export still.
i have tried to export it with no internet connection but that doesn’t work.
That’s not what I said. I said turn off the internet connection and shut down your virus program. Sometimes a virus programs will prevent Audacity from saving or managing files. It’s dangerous to be connected to the internet without your virus program.
my back up plan is that il have to install another programme to record audio like audacity and just re-do another podcast episode.
Do that. We are no closer to solving this problem than we were at the beginning. We have no idea why your machine would be doing this.
That’s not actually what I asked, but never mind, not important (I asked if you could save something to "C:\Users\deste\Documents\treehouse")
See if you can save the project (using “File menu > Save Project > Save Project As…”) to “C:\Users\deste\Documents\newtest.aup”.
Let us know what happens.
As i said before, i was able to save a new project onto the folder but nothing changed in terms of i still couldn’t export or add effects to my original project
This time Save Project As… with your current show and use a different name. That will give you two identical copies of the show and maybe the second one will behave better. Also see if you can save it to the desktop instead of your normal production folder, since we still don’t know what’s wrong.
What’s the show content? Why would I listen to it? Are you a gamer?
I tried all the things that people suggested and they did not work but I discovered that 1 of these segments of my file was damaged in some way and stopped being in stereo and was just in mono for a time. I could not export in the same way that you could not export and it kept giving me the exact same message about not being able to read a file from C drive. I deleted that segment and now it will exports. I created this account just to contribute to this problem.
I’m adding this post further to what was posted in August about damaged segments of files.
As in that post, I found that part of a file was damaged in the upload, and about 10 seconds of it was converted to mono, which only played out of one channel on my stereo in playback. That turned out to be the source of this message.
There may be other bugs in the upload process as another file I uploaded was distorted and unplayable, so I deleted it and re-uploaded it.
I hope developers can investigate these issues to improve the product!
The developers will not even look at the issues that you mention unless there is sufficient information about what the “bug” is that you refer to. It’s not possible to fix something without first knowing what is broken.
If you think you have found a bug, please start a new topic and provide sufficient information so that the developers can reproduce the issue. This should include:
Which operating system (and version)
Which exact version of Audacity
A detailed description of the issue (steps to reproduce)
What exactly were you doing when the issue happened
If the issue relates to importing, what is the file type (if it is specific to one file, then the actual file will be required).
Anything else relevant to the issue.
