I am trying to export a .wav file (mono,8000, u law) and upon exporting the audio I am getting .aiff files. I clearly choose.wav and the following options, butI am ending up with .aiff not .wav. Please see attached files for an example of what is occurring.
I am using Audacity 2.1.2 on Windows 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
I removed your e-mail address from your username. It is a bad idea to make your address visible on public forums because spambots will harvest your address then send you spam. When you log in here, do so as “dro122” with the same password as before.
Unfortunately the problem you describe is a bug. It is noted in the 2.1.2 Release Notes.
As it says there, only the extension is incorrect - the files are encoded as WAV. You can rename the already exported files to have WAV extension, but to do that, you will have to show file name extensions in Windows Explorer.
For your next export from Audacity, just add “.wav” (without the quotes) to the end of the filename you type, then the file will be correct.
The bug will be fixed in the next 2.1.3 version of Audacity when released.
