I’m going to put together the cover of a song, and both of the part files are in .mp3
I get the error:
even though it’s in an mp3
I’ve done other mp3 files with this and can edit them just fine but neither of the two song parts I have work.
please help.

Perhaps you should tell us what the format actually is… 
If you haven’t done so already, download and install the [u]FFmpeg Import/Export Library[/u]. That will allow you to open and/or export many different audio formats. And, you might have to correct the file name extension to match the actual format.
