Audacity cutting out middle of words

The audacity program when I am doing voice recording I’ll be reading a sentence and one of the words in the sentence will have like the middle of the word cut off so I might be like miraculously and it’ll be mirac and then lly and it’s like the middle syllable is missing what can I do to fix this. Also it doesn’t just do it one time usually 3 or 4 times in a reading.

Case you’re wondering I’m using an HP laptop with Windows 11 installed

That’s skipping … https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#How_can_I_record_without_small_skips

A larger buffer is probably the solution, but if you get down to the suggestions at the bottom where it suggests to try a higher priority, don’t bother with changing the affinity. It won’t make any difference.

Thank you for everyone’s help I hope the suggestions work.

When I go into changing the priority the computer tells me could cause system instability should I still change it

IMO “above normal” can be enough, (not “Realtime”, that can be counterproductive).

Thanks for helping me out

I’m just starting out with voice recording. Im using USB, should I switch to XLR? My mic is a Samsung Q9U

If you try recording on other software, say OCENaudio (free), that may reveal if the skipping problem is specific to Audacity.

Yes it is specific to this program. I have already tried this and everything came out fone

Can record on other software and edit the recording in Audacity.

[Skipping is a recording problem, does not arise when editing].
