This issue is not fixed in 3.6.3.
I just tried it and rolled back to 3.6.1 because 3.6.3 is unusable.
Windows 11
crash dump still reports AMD inaccurately.

Unfortunately, the error still occurs in Audacity 3.6.3.
started Audacity
changed āPreferences: Directories > Temporary files directoryā
restarted Audacity
wave file imported and edited
exported as mp3
closed Audacity
Boom the same crash
This error seems to be responsible for more than just the crashes when closing the program!
Addendum:
If I do not close the individual tracks after exporting (mp3) the audio files, I am asked whether I want to save the project when I exit Audacity. I answer this with no. This also leads to a crash, if I remember correctly, this still worked in Audacity 3.6.2.
changed to where: the cloud, an external disk or USB stick, somewhere else on your computer?
Peter
No, itās not fixed!
see above, I took a picture there - post 9.
It is a different hard disk in the PC, not external.
I just tested if a different directory on C would go and yes, no crash if the directory is on C.
I can reproduce this on W10 with 3,6,3 without exporting the MP3
I have re-opened the issue that was thought to be fixed:
Thanks for the simple Steps To Reproduce Kaji, much appreciated
Peter.
I have just tested a fix in a userās test branch build that appears to fix the STRs that I used yesterday. And the users Pull Request was approved by one of the Muse developers this morning.
Iām hoping that this might lead to a further bug-fix release soon.
Meanwhile if you have a GitHub account (and those are free) you may care to test this test branch build for yourself (ignore the seemingly irrelevant title, Joe just did some other tidying up):
Peter
Hey Peter, thanks for the quick work and the invitation!
Itās great that your fix has been successfully tested and the pull request has already gone through. It would be really nice if we could get a bugfix release soon.
It looks like Muse are preparing a 3.6.4 for release soon.
The fix has already migrated to the latest 3.7.0 alpha test build and it worked there when I tested it.

If it helps in any way, I generally use Audacity to edit single stereo files (usually levels, compression, length) before sending to air. I save and close file after file, no problem, but after I close the last file and then exit, through the menu or CTRL-Q or X in the top right corner I get the same crash dump everyone has reported. Hope they fix it soon but so far it hasnāt corrupted any of my files.
I donāt have any new information to add unless someone is interested in the unsend-able bug reports I get, but Iām commenting just to say āme tooā and get updates on this thread. Thanks for reporting it @Kaji
Iāve put my description of the problem with an attached error report file on the Windows section here: Audacity 3.6.3 crashes on exit - #2 by duncanphilpstate

Hello @here
It now is actually fixed in 3.6.4. Sorry for the delay; we re-ran our entire test suite with hundreds of tests on this one to make sure we actually got it this time.
2 days now on 3.6.4 and no crashes.
Iāve had the same positive experience⦠Iāve used 3.6.4 for a couple of days⦠typical editing, normalization, export⦠and zero crashes.
Thanks!
I am running 3.7.1 and getting all the above crashes.
Is this regression, or bug not solved yet?
Same. Iām still getting the crashes.
Same here. Running 3.7.1 on Windows 11. My projects donāt compress and it crashes on every exit. Hereās my crash report that I likewise couldnāt send.

Iām on Windows 11 using Audacity 3.7.1 and I also routinely get crashes when closing projects. It doesnāt happen all the time but so far havenāt noticed any pattern. It seems like it can happen on big projects with several tracks and small ones with a single track.
I also get the āfailed to send crash reportā when trying to send the report.
This is a fresh install on a new PC. I had previously been using an older version of Audacity and did import settings.
