Hi. I just DLed Audacity yesterday. I’d like to use it in conjunction with my new M-audio Fast Track interface but I don’t think Audacity is recognizing the unit. Any advice?
BTW, I run Windows 7, 64 bit.
If Windows sees your interface Audacity should be able to see it. Did you install the drivers, or does it work with the default Micorosoft-supplied drivers?
Right click on the Windows speaker/volume icon, select Recording Devices, and make sure it’s there and enabled. And, make sure the interface is plugged-in before starting Audacity.
Thanks for the reply DVD.
As far as I know, the drivers are installed (using disk and latest downloads from manufacturer). Is there anyway to determine for sure though?
Sems to me that the m-audio is installed and enabled. It’s listed among recording devices when I right click the volume icon. And the device is most def plugged in.
BTW, I am able to use the device to play and sing online, but haven’t been able to record with it using Audacity. Would likely not be having prob;ems if my PC had not failed to read the Pro Tools software that came with the device.

It doesn’t show up as a Recording Device? It might show up with a different name, or it might say “USB-something”. If not, you can try selecting a different “Audio Host” to see if that makes a difference. (WASAPI is the newest and MME is the oldest.)

I think the only way is to download the latest drivers from the M-Audio website and make sure the website says they are compatible with your version of Windows.
You have to connect the interface before launching Audacity. If you launch Audacity first, try Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in the Audacity menus.

Rescanning did the trick, Gale. Full marks. Thanks.
