When I usually save my Audacity projects I do the usual, ‘save as’ and then the project is saved as an AUDACITY FILE. Now suddenly when I wanted to save a project I got a little pop up window telling me something I didn’t understand and the Audacity file suddenly was made into a Windows Media file instead of an Audacity file.
Why is it doing this? I want is saved as an Audacity file. I tried changing the Host in Audio preferences to MME, or Windows WASAPI but it still is saved on the Windows media player. Any ideas?
In case you can’t open it, it says, “‘Save Project’, is for an Audacity project, not an audio file. For an audio file that will open in other apps use ‘Export’”.
I didn’t know what this message meant show I clicked on the, ‘don’t show this warning again’.
When I go to save as it also takes me to the option of if I want to save the Project on Cloud or on an App… It never asked me that before.
I just want to save my Audacity projects as an Audacity File.
Sorry, it’s not a windows media file but the file only gives me the option to play it on Windows media player.
An Audacity project file is not a sound file. It is a project file and lets you continue editing before exporting. Export afterwards as .aiff, .wav, .mp3 or whatever you like.
Ok got it but when I ‘save project’ just for my desktop how come it doesn’t let me save it as a Audacity project file anymore? What do I have to do to again save it as merely an Audacity project file on my desktop?
So what I’m understand is that Audacity uses AUP files. I don’t know the right tech lango well but how do I reset it in Audacity that my project files are saved as an AUP file on my computer so that when I open the file I see my Audacity project so I can continue working on the project, editing etc?.
