Audacity 4 fails to mix stereo down to mono

n Audacity 3.x, there was the “Track / Mix / Mix Stereo Down to Mono” operation. However, this operation is completely missing in Audacity 4.

Currently in Audacity 4.0.2, if I want to convert stereo to mono, I am forced to export the project to a mono FLAC or WAV file, unnecessarily generating extra junk files. All of this because the developers decided that a DAW software apparently doesn’t need to mix stereo down to mono.

The only “solution” provided by the Audacity 4.0.2 interface is “Split stereo to center mono” which, as any audio professional well knows, does not generate a single mono track from 1 stereo track. Instead, it generates 2 completely separate, independent mono tracks.

Please restore the “Track / Mix / Mix Stereo Down to Mono” operation in Audacity 4, which worked exceptionally well in Audacity 3.x.

NOTE: Repeat thist test with the audio of this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWGh92O9kxU

I raised an issue on Github about this (and other items missing from the Tracks menu). They’ll probably get to it eventually.
Meanwhile, stick with Audacity 3.7.9.
