I have found a reproducible crash when using Bluetooth headphones with Audacity 4.0 on Windows 11.
System:
-
Windows 11 (fully updated)
-
Audacity 4.0
-
Bluetooth and device drivers fully updated
Problem:
When Audacity 4.0 is running and I pair/connect my Bluetooth headphones, Audacity immediately crashes without any error message.
Switching from the internal speakers to wired headphones works normally and Audacity correctly changes the playback device.
The important comparison is:
-
Audacity 4.0 + internal speakers → works
-
Audacity 4.0 + wired headphones → works
-
Audacity 4.0 + Bluetooth headphones → Audacity crashes
-
Audacity 3.7.8 + the same Bluetooth headphones → works normally
After the crash, Audacity 4.0 can only be started again after disconnecting/unpairing the Bluetooth headphones.
This makes me suspect a problem related to the handling of Bluetooth audio devices or audio-device changes in Audacity 4.0.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem, or is there a known workaround?
I can provide additional system information if required.
