There are still various UI glitches. Stereo > Mono mixdown is still missing. The ability to set Multi-View (waveform + spectrogram) as a default is still missing. It remembers my shortcuts now without crashing the program, but… THEY STILL DON’T WORK!
Is there a reason Audacity itself doesn’t seem to know about the update? I opened Audacity 4 expecting it to immediately tell me a new version was available, but not only did it not do that, even when I go to Help>Check for update it tells me I’m up to date. I would think, given what seem to be significant stability and feature improvements to a product that started out (let’s be real here) pretty dismally broken, you would be rushing to get it out to everyone using Audacity 4 and not just the handful who happen to be here on the forum.
Not only does the app appear unaware there’s an update, the download page on the website itself still points to 4.0.0. The forum appears to be the only place that has the actual link. Makes me wonder if it’s still beta.
What is the hardware requirement for version 4.0.0 and 4.0.1. I ask because I have a quite old but still functional Dell Optiplex 780 running Linux Mint and it seems unable to execute the latest appimages of Audacity.
