Hi. I’ve had this issue for several weeks, but it didn’t matter until now. It actually started with the previous patch and I’d hoped a new patch would solve it, but no dice. No matter what mic I try, the onboard or my actual mic, Audacity tells me it can’t open it. Error 9999. I get the same result in Audacity 4 (I just now got it and tested it). It sees the mics in the equipment list, but won’t allow either of them to function. I couldnt find any forum messages with the error code, so apologies if this is a repeat.
I finally had time to troubleshoot the issue myself instead of just searching for answers. It was Windows. Somehow the mic access got toggled off in the Sound settings. I don’t know why that’s even possible, much less why Windows would opt to make that change on my behalf. So if anyone else has this issue, check your Windows settings.
