Hi Folks!
I’m facing problems while trying to rip some old LPs into my MacBook Pro (Silicon M4 Pro chip). When I play the record, Audacity won’t “hear” the input from the USB-C port.
The set up I have is a cable coming from my receiver (6.35mm jack) into my Mac (USB-C). Audacity version is 3.7.4 (silicon) and Mac OS is Sequoia 15.5. In my Mac I configured sound input as the USB-C port and Audacity does show me the option to also select it as input for recording, which I have selected. For instance, Audacity will hear my voice when I select Mac internal microphone as input as a mono track, but when I switch to the USB-C as input, it does not get any sound coming from the receiver.
I’ve tried:
rescanning audio devices
Made sure the USB-C port is selected as input in Sound preferences in the Mac and Audacity
Enabling and disabling sound activated recording in Audacity
Is anyone else getting the same problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.
I had set up security to allow for microphone access and I did it now for System Audio Recording. Recording volume is at 100%.
Still not working.
The cable I bought over Amazon it said P4 to USB-C.
Problem solved!
It was indeed an issue with the cable. Thanks for the lead!
The cable I was using was a P10 6,5mm stereo (plugged in the receiver headphone port) one end and USB-C on the other end, connected to the Mac. The cable was a simple one bought over the internet that lacked conversion from analog to digital sound, so now made obvious, it wouldn’t work. I’ve replaced it with a Behringer UCA222
audio interface card:
INPUT = P10,6,5mm jack to RCA cable
OUTPUT = USB with USB-C adaptor
Sending a picture of the set up as a reference for others that may fall in the same issue.
Thanks again for your help!
Best,
Marcelo
