Hey! I updated to 3.7.4 when prompted and I’ve noticed that now during playback of my audio track (mono track, audiobook narration) there’s a plosive distortion sound or maybe a clipping sound every time I hit play. (not sure on the technical name for this issue, but can provide an example) If I place the playhead during a silent spot it does not do this, but if I place the playhead near the beginning of a sentence it will create that sound every time.
-It happens in my corded headphones and my laptop speakers.
-Doesn’t seem to effect the actual track, it’s just audible during playback.
-same issue across multiple files before recorded before the update and after the update
Has anyone else experienced this or would an example help further explain issue?
Thanks!
PS. this is my first time posting, feel free to re-direct if I’ve posted in the wrong space.
If you play it again, does the sound repeat, or is the audio normal?
When I play a selection, I hear a second or so of silence, and then the rest of the audio. When I play it again, it sounds normal. I have always blamed buffering as the cause.
A little black magic may help you. Or not. I have a recurring problem with bursts of static. Just popped up today. Mine are not as easy to reproduce. They are frequent and painful but hard to nail down. Then they go away for a while just to make sure my teeth explode when it returns!
What I discovered in March 2023 - was that somehow the settings on my Audio Interface, Windows, and Audacity get out of synch. Today my Interface was running 48000 while my audacity and windows settings were 44100. They were working for a while, and I didn’t intentionally revise one or the other. It didn’t crash or fail, but I got the burst of static AND my overdub tracks were slowed down and out of time and tune. Setting the interface back to 44100 seems to have worked. YMMV
