Previous version has no issues accessing my secondary mounted SATA drive on Ubunbtu 24.04.2.
All other application and files utility have no problem reading the drive.
Version 3.6.1 had no problem.
I get error reading… permission denied.
Drive is set to full access read/write everyone.
Drive does not even show up in the Audacity Open dialog.
through what mechanism did you install Audacity? I believe snap and flatpak have some permission system to their sandbox model which prohibit reading files from secondary (or external) drives.
The only mechanism 3.7.4 will install on my machine is command line snap which results in two problems:
- Non-boot drive cannot be accessed.
- The program will not display nor can I select the output sound device although it’s the same device as the input sound and that works.
The Audacity web site link to Ubuntu 3.7.4 appimage will not install although I have all the latest snap and libfuse2 installed (“'failed to move”, “failed to register”.)
The snap software library within Ubuntu (programs) does not make 3.7.4 available.
