Can’t save as Mp3.
Audacity 3.4.2 does not include an Mp3 option in the Export dialogue. MP2 is there but not Mp3. Advice please.
Exporting as a wav and then converting the file is a clunky solution.
Maybe a new bug hitting some users… Somebody else reported the same thing recently. 
This is just a random guess-suggestion but try deleting the Audacity.cfg or (temporarily?) re-name it to something like AudacityX.cfg so that Audacity can’t find it.
A new cfg file should be created when you re-start Audacity. You will lose any preferences that you’ve changed.
…The only reason I’m thinking of this is because everybody’s cfg file can be different.
Well, thanks for that. 
This is a new adventure for me and when I found the hidden stuff(!) I had a look around. I found a section for ‘preferences’ and in it was this.
This beauty with mod-mp3 disabled. I enabled it and wham!! Mp3 back again.
How it happened I don’t know.
