Audacity 3.3.3 does not open after installation

Système: Mac OS 10.13.06 (High Sierra)

Bonjour,

Merci.

So far I have never had a problem installing Audacity. The last installation is 3.2.4, without any problem.
However, after the installation of Audacity 3.3.3, the first launch does not go through, no information appears, the opening remains at the point that we can see on the attached image, nothing happens anymore.

Thanks for a respons.

For a workaround, see: Updating to 3.2.3 Gets Stuck on Verifying Audacity.app for older Macbooks (OSx 10.13.6 / Intel Chip) · Issue #4139 · audacity/audacity · GitHub

:japanese_ogre:

I was able to install 3.3.3 quickly and without problems by following the solution given on Github.

audacity-macOS-3.3.3-universal. dmg is apparently a problem for older OS like mine……not universal at all :weary:

Thanks a lot

If Audacity 3.3.3 is not opening after installation on your Mac running macOS 10.13.6, there could be a few possible reasons and troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Compatibility: Confirm that Audacity 3.3.3 is compatible with macOS 10.13.6. You can check the system requirements on the Audacity website or in the release notes for that version. If it’s not compatible, you may need to use an older version of Audacity or consider updating your macOS.
  2. Permissions: Make sure you have the necessary permissions to run Audacity. Right-click on the Audacity application icon and select “Get Info.” In the Info window, expand the “Sharing & Permissions” section. Ensure that your user account has “Read & Write” access. If not, click the lock icon, enter your administrator password, and change the permissions accordingly.
  3. Third-party software conflict: Temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software you have installed, as they might be interfering with Audacity’s operation. Try opening Audacity again after disabling these programs to see if it resolves the issue.
  4. Remove preferences and cache files: Audacity stores preferences and cache files that can sometimes cause issues. Open Finder, click on the “Go” menu, and choose “Go to Folder.” Enter the following path and press Enter: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/. Locate the folder named “2.4” (or similar) and move it to the Trash. Restart Audacity and check if it opens properly.
  5. Reinstall Audacity: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try uninstalling Audacity completely and then reinstalling it. To uninstall Audacity, drag the Audacity application to the Trash. Additionally, remove the preferences and cache files as mentioned in step 4. Afterward, download a fresh copy of Audacity from the official website and install it again.

Thanks for input. Actually, this issue seems to be due to a limitation related to older versions of MacOS. See the previous posts in this thread.

Merci avaalberto

3.3.3 s’ouvre normalement et fonctionne (jusqu’à présent) après l’installation. C’est l’installation qui posait problème. Merci de re-lire mon message.

3.3.3 opens normally and works (so far) after installation. The installation was the problem. Please re-read my message.
