Fender Mustang III v2. Using the USB cable that came with the guitar amp, amp turned on, then audacity opened, clicked on rescan audio devices and guitar amp will not show up in input toolbar. What am I doing wrong?
As per the information in red above:
Please state which version of Windows you are using, the exact three-section version of Audacity from Help > About Audacity and whether you obtained the .exe installer or the zip.
Does the guitar amp show-up in Windows Control Panel? (It might simply say “USB audio device” or something like that.)
Nevermind guys. It was a simple error on my part of not downloading the ASIO plug in or whatever from fender.com. Problem solved. Thank you anyways.
This thread will be deleted if I’m able to do that.
Audacity does not ship with ASIO support. That means that the release version of Audacity cannot use ASIO drivers.
It may be necessary to install WDM drivers for your Fender.
Please note that we are unable to help if you do not give necessary information. If you still need help, please read this first: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-post-a-question-on-the-forum/23175/1
All I had to was download the ASIO driver from fender.com and it works fine. Been recording like crazy.
We still need to make clear for other users that Audacity as shipped does not include ASIO support. The “ASIO drivers” might also include WDM support, if so then that WDM support is what makes Audacity recognise the USB device.
